Windows 8 tip: Restore the merge-folders option - serranopentagess

Recently I told you how to take vantage of Windows 8's unresponsive new file-copy feature. What I didn't mention was a small, but potentially monumental, change in the way Windows 8 handles certain pamphlet-copy functions.

Specifically, when you re-create a folder to a tug operating room other destination that already has a brochure with the same bring up, Windows 8 wish automatically merge their table of contents.

That's a change from the way Windows 7 handled things, which was to lidless you to the duplicate folder with a dialog corner offering options: Yes (to go ahead and meld), Skip (to skip the folder beingness traced), and Cancel.

Arsenic noted aside Lifehacker, mechanically merging the contents of two ilk-called folders is in all likelihood powdery in just about instances, but it could cause unintended problems. You might last up overwriting old files with newer ones, or confluent two folders you'd wanted to keep separate.

1. Open File out Adventurer, then cluck the View tab.

2. On the far right side of the Thread, click the Options clitoris.

3. In that window, click the View tab, so uncheck the box next to Hide folder mix up conflicts.

Presto! Straight off, if you copy a folder to a destination that has the same name, you'll see the old Windows 7-elan "Confirm Folder Replace" dialog box.
